A city built twice, first as the DuPont works' company village and then as Northwest Landing, where a kitchen may still hold the appliances fitted with the house.
DuPont takes its name from the company that ran an explosives plant here from 1909 to 1975, and the houses it built for its workers now form the DuPont Village Historic District. After the plant closed, Weyerhaeuser bought the land and developed Northwest Landing on a New Urbanism plan, and much of today’s housing belongs to that newer half.
The Houses row names both halves, and they make for different kitchens. In the planned streets, a kitchen fitted when the house was built may still hold its first appliances, and houses from the same phase can share much the same models. In the old village, the kitchens have been redone inside far older walls.
The model number decides the part
That likeness can mislead, which is what the Have ready row is for. Two ranges that look identical from the front may carry different model numbers and take different parts, so a repair that worked next door is no guide to yours. Read the model and serial numbers off the label on the appliance and keep them to hand when you ring; the quote is built from them, not from the house down the street.
The Fuel row is still asked, gas or electric, because the parts bag depends on it, and in the older village a remodel may have changed what the house was first given.
